We Have Arrived.

It has been 48 hours since I have arrived in D.C. We have arrived as a Loyola delegation, 26 students strong. We have arrived as an environmental movement, 10,000 people strong. We look to the future where we seek to arrive, strong as a generation, a nation, and a global human race.

Before each of us left Loyola we gathered together to share why each of us chose to spend these four days at Power Shift. We all came with hope as well as determination derived from an education and knowledge that CHANGE is necessary for our survival. We all came to Power Shift because we knew it would take the collectivity and energy of all us to create the change we sought.

"Over the course of history, some of the most transformative movements were lead by the courage of our nation’s youth. Young people who were not afraid to speak truth to power, to sacrifice and demonstrate their commitment to changes that seemed impossible to previous generations. We are ready to lead our country to a clean energy future. Power Shift 2011 marks a turning point for the youth climate movement – a departure from a role in the chorus of advocates simply calling for change, and an emergence into a position of leadership; demanding real change on energy and climate and refusing to stop until it is achieved."
